Week 24 Happy Wednesday, hope the week is going well. Here are the highlights from last week as well as a couple weekly reminders: B/P BOWs: 593 Kaya Ichikawa... 629 Noah Dominguez Mystery Scores: 96, 103, 68...won by Nicholas Dominguez! J/M BOWs: 708 Makayla Stewart 612 Ruben Vizcarra Mystery Scores: 123, 134, 125...won by Keanu Apilado! Fee reminder: weekly league dues are payable regardless if you bowl or not. Please make sure to honor that. Thanks! Tournament reminder: Pepsi tournament is coming up March 17 at Delta Bowl in Antioch. Everyone has been approached to discuss whether or not you are bowling that tournament. We pay for this (and all) tournaments up front...if you owe (for ANY tournament) and have not paid, please settle up at the table this week. Thanks number two! BBQ reminder: We should be getting a Signup Genius soon for anything that needs to be donated for the BBQ. Thanks to some outstanding outreaches by the Jensen and Crabtree families, we have beans, firewood, and, I believe, the paper products all donated by community members! This is awesome! Thanks number three! Also, tickets are in and ready to be picked up at the table this Saturday. Remembering that kids get an automatic $2 in their scholarship account for each ticket sold, it would be quite wise for kids to hit up the adult leagues every night of the week. Past ticket sales have been HUGE to the adult bowlers, it would be a great idea to take advantage of it. Let me know of any questions, comments, or concerns! Salinas Youth Bowling
Week 22 Hey all, happy Valentine's Day! Emoji Emoji Emoji Emoji Here we go with some week 22 highlights and some other notes B/P BOWs: 617 Kalea Apilado... 680 Dominic Chaidez Mystery Scores: 64, 97, 69...won by Shawn Ura! J/M BOWs: 595 Carrizma Govea-Grab 719 Keanu Apilado Mystery Scores: 157, 100, 107...won by Danny Vizcarra, Christian Hamlet, Carrizma Govea-Grab, and Aiden Johnson! Our Pizza Factory fundraiser seemed to be a hit...quite a few people said they went. I tell ya, the linguica-pepperoni-onion-extra cheese pie I got was delish! Will let y'all know what we netted when that comes through. Thanks again to the Jensen family for coordinating that! BBQ planning is coming along nicely. Thanks again to the Jensens, we have Guadalajara Grill donating the beans, and more super thanks to Paula Crabtree for getting a donation of firewood! These donations really help to minimize our cost and maximize $$ going back to the kids! (isn't it funny how economics works?). Right now, we will be getting a Signup Genius going around for any other things that we'll need...these include rolls (from Costco), foodservice lunch trays (clamshell containers for the meal) and plasticware packs (both these come from American Supply), and even $$ toward the chicken purchase. Finally, NorCal tournament scheduled for March 30/31 MUST be confirmed to Pam this weekend, in order to secure spots. Pam has already contacted most of you, please see her this Saturday to confirm. There are 6 team spots at 4pm on the 30th, and on Sunday 31st there are 6 team spots for 9:30 and 6 spots at noon. Pam will have all the info. See you Saturday! Salinas Youth Bowling

J/M BOWs: 710 Itzel Perez 682 Ruben Vizcarra Mystery Scores: 151, 104, 123...no winners :( REMINDER!! Pizza Factory (South Main) Fundraiser is Wednesday Feb. 6. If scores are just put into the youth bowling box at VCB, they won't be entered. Sorry! Reminder 3: Revenge of the Reminders Fundraising BBQ is tentatively scheduled for April 6, however there could be (is) a conflict with VCB that may pose an issue. April 13 is still available, though that is the beginning of Easter Break, and some folks may be out of town. Depending upon the number of people this affects, we may or may not be changing the day. I've heard from one family who can't make it April 6...if you care to weigh in, please let me know ASAP. Reminder 4...The Final Chapter Pepsi and NorCal tournaments are coming fast and ALL entry fees are now due and payable, as are any league fees in arrears (league fees for Bantam/Preps and Junior/Majors are due whether you bowl or not). See Mary or me at the table. Thanks!! See you tomorrow!

Thanks! -Salinas Youth Bowling pre-pays all tournament entries, and we still have some outstanding fees due (not 'outstanding' like "whoa dude, that was awesome and amazing! outstanding, but the 'outstanding' like "oh man, I bowled in that last tournament and I'll be bowling in the NorCal Doubles tournament but didn't pay for either, yet" outstanding). I'll be at the table this Saturday with a smile and hand out. Pizza Fundraiser!! Attached is the flyer for the Pizza Factory fundraiser for Wednesday Feb. 6. Spread the word, hopefully we can make some scholarship money to fund the games we had to give up, like brackets and no-tap fun tournaments. Speaking of weekly games, the Fall season scholarships have been funded. When I get the ok, I will send out emails to all those who received scholarship $$ for BOW, Make That Spare, and Mystery Scores. Remember to check your SMART accounts!! Salinas Youth Bowling
Hey all, Coming on Wednesday February 6th there will be a youth fundraiser at the South Main Pizza Factory...20% of all sales go to the program!! Good for dine-in OR take out, make your plans to have pizza for a cause! You can either print out the flyer (attached below), show it on your phone, or simply mention Salinas Youth Bowling and 20% (YES, 20%. I think that's like around twice as much as 10%!!) goes to the youth program! Feel free to spread it on Facebook, Snapchat, ...Twitter, or whatever your preferred mode of social media...ANYONE can use it! Special thanks to the Jensen family for getting this to happen. You are rockstars! Salinas Youth Bowling
Week 18 Apologies for the late blast, here are notes and highlights from week 18 youth bowling: J/M BOWs 636 Breanne Billman... 704 Ruben Vizcarra Mystery Scores: 117, 135, 151...won by JR Flores, Makayla Stewart, Isaiah Grab, and Keanu Apilado!! B/P BOWs 619 Kaya Ichikawa 643 Damian Chaidez Mystery Scores: 119, 105, 81...won by Ethan Croci and Dominic Chaidez! (for those new or new-ish to the program, BOW is Bowler of the Week. These are the high handicap series from both leagues, boy and girl. Winner gets $5 to scholarship account. Mystery Scores are randomly generated (by my bowling software) scores...if those scores were bowled by anyone, those bowlers also get $5 in scholarship.) Pepsi Tournament reminder: EVERYONE qualifies for this tournament (in March at Delta Bowl in Antioch). You are not required to bowl, but you must let me know if you are in or out. I have a few already...if you haven't let me know, let me know (that sounds weird). Entry fee is $26 or $30, depending on age. This is now payable. NorCal Doubles is February! Pam has all the signups, the entry fee for this tournament is also now due for those that are going. See me for deets. Fundraising BBQ preparations are in full swing. The youth bowling braintrust will be in contact with each parental unit to determine areas of product, fiscal, and time donations. This is our ONLY fundraiser, fully funding all our scholarship award payments, so it is critical to have help from all involved. Questions, comments, concerns, suggestions? Fire off an email to me!! See you tomorrow!
Hey all, here is the fee information and breakdown for the upcoming league (probably called the Spring season, as we'll finish in April sometime). 16 weeks of bowling, 10% off to pay entire Spring season upfront. Fee for multiple bowlers from individual families get a break, looks like this: 1 bowler = $11/week... 2 bowlers = $10 each/week 3+ bowlers = $9 each/week REMINDER---all checks to be made payable to 'Salinas Wranglers Youth Bowling' So for entire season: 1 youth $11 x 16 weeks = $176 - $18 (10%) = $158 total 2 youth $10 x 2 bowlers x 16 weeks = $320 - $32 (10%) = $288 total 3 youth $9 x 3 bowlers x 16 weeks = $432 - $43 (10%) = $389 total we take PayPal as well, hopefully we have that up and running this Saturday. Happy new year, bowlers and bowlettes! Hope everyone had some wonderful time off with friends and family and ready to hit the lanes for a new season. This blast will have a little bit of everything...good news, not-so-good news, tournament news, but no Huey Lewis and the News. Here we go: -NorCal doubles tournament is February 9/10 and 16/17. Please see me or Pam ASAP if you are interested in bowling this event. As with all tournaments, it is optional but there is an entry f...ee. See us for more details! -Speaking of paid tournaments, Pepsi Tournament in March has been paid by Salinas Youth Bowling. Those who accpeted the invitation and agreed to go can pay that fee ASAP as well. Entry fee is based on age: $26 or $30, see me for details. -We gave out nearly $1100 in SMART prize money for our just-completed Fall Awards! That's the good news! The bad news? Due to the changes in our program's structure, we have very little in the way of funds to continue awarding the weekly games as we have in the past, let alone conduct fun tournaments and bracket competitions (remember those?). In the past, the BBQ funded all of that and more but we are now looking at a substantial shortfall. For those that want to do the math at home, here are some (generous) numbers: 40 bowlers pay $11 per week (based on family member participation, this is not really accurate, but let's maximize the possibility). Regardless of familial participation, we pay $9 to the house for every bowler, every week. That leaves $2 per bowler per week for the prize fund. 40 bowlers x $2 x 16 weeks = $1280 MAXIMUM for prizes, pizza parties, and weekly games. We just paid out $1085 for Fall Awards, leaving...hmmm, carry the 8, bring down a zero, cross cancel, move the decimal...$195. I'm no Donald Trump, but this does not look like a budget we can continue to have. So...we'll need to come up with other sources of income and IMMEDIATELY get rolling on this BBQ idea in April if we want to continue providing the kids with stout scholarship amounts. Yeah, that was a drag, but it needed to be addressed. -League bowling begins this Saturday! Hope to see you all there!
Week 16 season is upon us! Tomorrow we have our potluck, awards, and two games of fun and FREE bowling! Parents/guardians are welcome to bowl with the youth (this is for the youth members of the program, not non-bowling siblings or friends). Then stay for the potluck, awards, and presentation to our Adopt-a-Family! -this will be our final week of bowling for the fall season. A new season of league bowling begins Jan. 12 thru May 11. The coming winter/spring season (like the f...all season) can be paid in full for a 10% discount. I will have the fee breakdown in the next e-blast. BOWs J/M: 692 Makayla Stewart 704 Matthew Stewart Mystery Scores...102, 143, 101, won by Isaiah Grab! B/P: 618 Kalea Apilado 625 Noah DOminguez Mystery Scores...73, 74, 87, won by Brandon Hamlet! All scholarship money won throughout the season, as well as award scholarships, will be paid out within the next 2 weeks. All recipients will get an email from me telling you what you won and for what. Please PLEASE check your SMART account for your balance (remember...we award scholarship money through the USBC SMART program. Any scholarship money won in any NorCal bowling event MUST be verified through NorCal themselves. They do NOT have an online account presence and you need to contact them directly. Click the link for our website below to find out how to connect with both SMART and NorCal. Salinas Youth Bowling

We collected $145 from the Wednesday adult league that will be going to the folks in Paradise! Special thanks to Carrizma and Isaiah for coming down to help and also super thanks to Kathie Grab, who baked mini loaves of pumpkin bread and banana bread...and gave one to any person who donated $10. Awesome commitment! We can still use a couple kids tonight and tomorrow night to help gather more donations. I won't be able to make it tonight and this will be the only week we hit the adult leagues, so now's your chance to help! Thanks!! Salinas Youth Bowling
Hey gang, just a quick reminder we will be at the bowl Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights around 6:30 to do some quick fundraising for the Paradise folks. Would love to see a few of the bowlers come down for 15 minutes or so to help out! Thanks! Salinas Youth Bowling
