We are so disappointed not to be able to welcome our loyal customers to our centres for some much-needed fun and escapism, but we cannot wait to see you all once we are allowed to reopen our doors! Welcome to the second installment of LEISUREPLEX LEGENDS! Episode 2 features Leisureplex Cork Duty Manager Karen O'Brien Karen has worked in Leisureplex Cork since 1994, starting as a birthday party host before moving into the diner, eventually working her way up to Duty Supervisor and then Duty Manager ... Over the years, Karen has always had a passion for working with customers and athletes with special needs, beginning with hosting birthday parties, and then becoming a coach with the Cork Special Olympics Bowling Club. After completing her bowling coaching badges, she became Head Coach with club This lead to her becoming Chairperson of the club, and she was also selected as Head Coach for Team Munster Bowling in the Special Olympics Ireland Games in 2018 Following on from that, she was selected as a Team Ireland Bowling Coach in the World Games in Abu Dhabi in 2019 In recognition of her work with Special Olympics, she was given as Indoor Sports Star Award for Munster Away from Leisureplex and bowling, Karen is an avid reader and even dabbles in some writing in her spare time (when she has any while raising two young boys!) Karen likes to travel, and in particular she loves to discover Ireland when she takes some well-earned holiday time. She is the epitome of the values that we adore here at Leisureplex loyal, dedicated, hard-working and selfless. Long first week of the kids being back to school? Why not treat the fam to some indoor fun!

Introducing....LEISUREPLEX LEGENDS! We are so lucky to have such a loyal, dedicated team across our brand, so we thought we would show them off in a new series - Leisureplex Legends! And where esle to start off but with someone who has been with us from the very beginning...our Business Development Manager...Mr. Sean Kennedy! Sean has worked for Leisureplex since our first bowling alley / entertainment centre opened in Coolock in 1992. Prior to joining Leisureplex, Se...an was General Manager at the old Dundrum Bowl from 1985. Sean’s love affair with bowling began in 1969, when his late Mum got him a job handing out rental bowling shoes in Stillorgan Bowl (now Leisureplex Stillorgan). He was well-and-truly bitten by the bowling bug and started working in Stillorgan full time when he left school in 1973. Although no longer competing at a competitive level, Sean was once a fine bowler himself, holding the high average in the 1970s of 187. He was also team captain of the junior Irish team who travelled to Holland in the early 70's. What Sean really loves about working in tenpin bowling, though, is how the game can be played by all people. Whether you are young, old, athletic or not, bowling is a great activity for everybody. Sean’s main role at Leisureplex over the last few years has been the organisation and management of various tournaments and events, and also promoting the game to the corporate sector for team-building and fun nights out. Away from bowling, Sean is an avid fan of all-things music. Whether it’s hearing a new band for the first time, or simply buying the latest home system, he is always excited by the music industry. He also loves to travel and is fond of a long walk when the Irish weather allows! Sean embodies everything it is to be a Leisureplex Legend, and we couldn't think of anyone better to kick off our series.
